  • There Comes A Time

Posted on February 22, 2015 by Wendy

Thank you to everyone who has taken time to comment on You Tube for my card/poem There Comes A Time. It has been nominated and is in the top 3 currently for A Women's Hope Magazine. The judging is based on You Tube comments.

When I wrote this poem in no way did I think it would be known world wide. It has gone now to over 37 countries. The comments and emails I get regarding my poem on how it has changed lives is the most humbling thing that I have ever experienced. To hear that people keep this card by their bedside and read it daily so warms my heart.

If you have not seen the video or read the card you can view it at the link below. If you feel moved to comment please do so. I hope it makes a difference for you.

  • How Much Sleep Do You Need?

Posted on February 8, 2015 by Wendy

Eating a pH balanced diet with lots of alkaline foods truly does energize your body, however along with an alkaline diet you need the proper amount of sleep as well. Both go hand in hand.

Have you ever felt groggy upon waking, or do you lack the energy needed to get through your day? Studies show that the connection between lack of sleep and health problems are becoming greater each year. People are not getting enough "good" sleep.

Lack of sleep not only makes you feel tired and sluggish, but it can be the root cause of other conditions such as weight gain, high blood pressure, low immune system, and anxiety/depression. Getting a "good" night sleep in imperative to Good Health.

I personally do my best to make sure I get my 8 hours a night. When I don't get my 8 hours this is when I feel sluggish, lazy or when a cold or flu can set in. If ever I feel like I am getting sick, I take a nice bath and hit the bed early. There is nothing better than a "good" night's sleep to fight of what is ailing you.

So how much sleep is enough? I found this chart below from the National Sleep Foundation.

Even though the amount of sleep one individual needs is based on several different factors such as genetics, age, stress and overall health; the table below gives a good rule of thumb on how much sleep we need as we age:

Remember to relax before bedtime, and keep yourself away from anything that cause you stress. Stay away from watching television before bedtime and internet activities as they both create active brain waves and harder to relax.

I know most of us are not getting the healthy amount of sleep on the chart however there is no time like the present to begin.

Sweet dreams... and Remember to Always Be Fabulous

  • Self Worth vs Net Worth

Posted on January 31, 2015 by Wendy

Great article about how we tie #self-worth to #net-worth.

The wages that we earn provide for our lives, but they do not define our lives.

  • Switch Tips

Posted on January 15, 2015 by Wendy

A lot of people are asking me this month, "What can they do to make healthier food choices?" and "How Can They Lose those extra pounds from the holidays"? Chapter 16 in my book Fabulous, Fit & Fantastic Living, "Get To Your Natural State of Weight" shares some excellent Switch Tips of things you can begin to do differently. I am not a big believer in the word "diet" and I think if you start to make better choices that are simple and easy to follow you will lose those extra pounds and get to your "natural state of weight"

Outside of the pH recipes I have shared with you this year here are just some simple ingredients you can switch to create a healthier and more pH-balanced lifestyle.

Switch the regular breakfast habits of cereal and milk, toast and jam, home fries and bacon to something alkaline. Try having salad for breakfast. I know it sounds odd; however, I tried it a few times and it is delightful. We are conditioned to thinking salad is for lunch and dinner only. You can even try a veggie wrap, or some vegetable juice. Your body will love you.

Switch your hot processed boxed cereal to buckwheat cereal and use almond milk instead. This is very filling and easy to make. Cream of buckwheat is available at most health food stores.

Switch regular pasta noodles to soba noodles.

Switch white rice to brown rice, or basmati rice.

Switch in between meal snacks to cucumber, celery, red, yellow or orange bell peppers, with hummus, instead of candy or chips. Try sliced apples sprinkled with cinnamon. Also try dehydrated kale chips, sweet potato chips, veggie crunch sticks. This will satisfy your need for crunch.

Switch your pop/soda to lemon/lime flavored water.

Switch your peanut butter to organic peanut butter and also try almond butter.

Switch your table salt to Celtic Sea Salt.

Switch your white vinegar to apple cider vinegar.

Switch your potatoes to sweet potatoes/yams.

Switch corn to root vegetables, parsnips, beets, carrots and squash.

Switch MSG and salty spices to natural cinnamon, ginger, oregano, parsley, cilantro, basil and fresh garlic.

Switch dried fruit to fresh fruit.

Switch cashews and pistachios to pumpkins seeds and raw sunflower seeds.

Switch processed chocolate to raw organic cacao chocolate.

Switch your coffee from cream and sugar to black.

I hope this helps you with some healthier choices

    Remember to always Be Fabulous

    Luv Wendy
