  • Never Give Up On Your Dreams

Posted on September 13, 2014 by Wendy

Remember to Never Ever Give Up on Your Dreams.

As a huge fan of John Travolta since I was a little girl I would dream about the day I would get to meet him. June 4, 1999 that dream became a reality, totally unexpected, thanks to City TV. Never in my wildest dreams would I imagine that I would be chosen amongst the crowd to be one of the 3 people to look him in those baby blue eyes and to ask an interview question, shake his hand and get an autograph. I was not prepared for what that day would bring me so I had him autograph my makeup bag. Within the same year I was blessed to meet him again at City TV and this time I was prepared. The Producer called me and told me the time and date he would be there. I brought everything I owed regarding John Travolta, albums and magazines, and had it all autographed and took photos. They interviewed me on the 6pm news as the craziest fan. I have the video to reflect on and it satisfied my fan fetish. Needless to say 15 years later my BFF tells me John Travolta is at TIFF 2014. Hours upon hours I wait on the line to try to get tickets. 5 days later finally 2 tickets are available. I get to go to the Premier Event of his movie and last minute get picked for the Red Carpet Ultra Pass by Theresa Longo. How does this all happen? I never ever gave up on my dream to meet him. I always believed it would happen.

For whatever it is you wish for in your life, you must believe it will happen. You must see it in your mind, for it to become a reality. You might think it crazy of me with my dream however whenever I see his photo or a movie to just doesn't represent John Travolta. It represents a little girl who had a dream... and that dream became a reality. Not once, Not twice, but 3 times now.

I am still holding out for a Selfie of the two of us together, so maybe it will happen at the Grammys when I am there. Who knows... Tomorrow is a new day... Tomorrow is a new day to live your dream!!!

    Luv Wendy

  • Eating Alkaline on the BBQ

Posted on August 19, 2014 by Wendy

FABULOUS YAMS & PEPPERS ON BBQ

Summer time is a fabulous time to BBQ and YES you can still eat Alkaline while enjoying your big juicy steak on the BBQ. Remember the key is to eat 75% alkaline and 25% Acidic. The meats we BBQ are ALL acidic so just make sure you balance it off with some great veggies. One of my favourites are Yams and Peppers.

    INGREDIENTS ( for 2 people)
2 Fresh Peppers- Yellow or Orange Preferred, however you can use red or green if you like
    2 large Fresh Yams
    Sea Salt
    Fresh Ground Pepper
    Fresh Garlic Gloves
    8 baby tomatoes
    Butter - optional

    DIRECTIONS FOR PEPPERS

    Wash the peppers first

First make a round cut on the top of the pepper so you can open it up to stuff it.
Make the cut just big enough so you can stuff it easily and take off the stem.

Next clean out the pepper and take out all the seeds.

Take the garlic and peel 4 cloves. 2 for each pepper. Cut the garlic cloves in half.

Take 8 baby cherry tomatoes and slice each in half. There will be 4 full tomatoes for each pepper after sliced.

Stuff the peppers with the garlic and tomatoes. Add a bit of sea salt and fresh pepper, and a splash of butter if you like. The butter makes it more juicy.

Wrap each pepper fully in aluminum foil and place on top grill in your BBQ. Make sure the foil is completely sealed so the butter doesn't run out. Let steam for 35 minutes. Do not turn, leave how they are.

After 35 minutes just open the foil, carefully as it will be hot, and you have your super delicious peppers ready for your enjoyment.

    DIRECTIONS FOR YAMS

    Wash the two yams

Cut each yam horizontally so you have 2 halves each.

Place the yams on aluminum foil, each in its own foil wrapper

Sprinkle some sea salt and pepper on them with a splash of butter.
If you like you can add some raw brown sugar to give it a crystallized coating

Wrap in the foil and give the foil 3 pokes with a fork to allow air flow. Make sure the foil is completely sealed so the butter doesn't run out.

Cook on the top grill in your BBQ for 35 minutes along with the Peppers.

After 35 minutes just open the foil, carefully as it will be hot, and you have fabulous yams to go with your peppers and meat

This is a healthy way to get your veggies with your BBQ and there are NO dishes to wash. Just throw out the foil. I also love to use the yams instead of baked potatoes. It helps mix up the menu too. With the peppers, yams, tomatoes and garlic you get a super pH balance to your meat and lots of vitamins and minerals

All that is left is to ENJOY!!!!

    Remember to Always Be Fabulous!

  • Hang with people who "Get YOU"

Posted on August 18, 2014 by Wendy

Had a thought for the day and thought I would share it with you.

"I would rather hang out with only 1 person who truly "Gets Me" and for me to say I have 1 true friend as opposed to hanging out with many people who don't truly "Get Me", and me to say I have 100 friends. The older I get, the wiser I become. By Wendy Ladd

  • pH Alkaline Foods - My personal favourites for High Energy

Posted on June 22, 2014 by Wendy

    It's official! Happy Summer Everyone!

And with that comes the magnificence of Healthy, Delicious, pH Alkaline Foods.

There is amazing energy in the foods we eat so this month I want to share with you some of the top alkaline foods that I personally eat to ensure I keep my energy high. With all the summer activities going on you do not want to feel sluggish or tired, and it is a proven fact that eating an alkaline diet with help you to feel more vibrant and alive. What better way to spend your day!

You can certainly find ALL of these amazing foods at your local grocery store or better yet, at your local Farmer's market.

Spinach, Kale & Romaine Lettuce are rich in vitamins and minerals. The folate is a mood enhancing mineral and actually lowers depression so eat more spinach, kale and romaine lettuce to feel happier because when we are happier we are more energetic. There is nothing more energizing than a spinach salad, or some yummy kale chips.

Almonds and Walnuts are protein packed with a good source of magnesium. The magnesium helps convert sugar into energy. This is a great snack for the afternoon when you need a pick me up and also easy to carry with you for a "quick fix". Don't forget to also sprinkle them on your salads or add some sunflower seeds with them to mix it up.

A glass of water when you feel tired will more than likely give you the boost of energy you need by hydrating your body. We feel sluggish when we are dehydrated so keep your body hydrated to feel more energetic, especially in the heat or when outside. I know this isn't "officially" a food however it's just as important. By also adding fresh lemon to your water in the morning and night is also an excellent way to get your source of alkaline in your water.

If you haven't used Coconut Oil, now is a good time to begin. Coconut oil is a fat that converts quickly into energy and you can also cook with it as well as use in your shakes and smoothies. It certainly gives your dishes an excellent, unique, delicious flavour. You can also enjoy raw coconut as well or add it to your salad toppings too. The latest healthy craze is all about Coconuts!

Lastly, Dates, Figs & Raisins are an excellent alkaline source. I love to dip my dates and figs into raw honey, and then roll them into raw crushed almonds or coconut. What a wonderful treat! The raisins are also fabulous as a salad topper. Did you know that raisins are a good source of potassium and magnesium? These two minerals are both very effective in neutralizing the acids in your body and help check acidosis and other related condition. There is no better snack to alkalize your body than with dates, figs & raisins, and also get to a natural state of weight.

    pH Alkaline Foods

So there you have it! Some of my top alkaline foods to keep yourself energized this summer. Make sure you add them to your shopping list and enjoy your month everyone.

    Luv Wendy
