21 Days to Make or Break a Habit

Posted on December 12, 2015 by Wendy There have been 0 comments

They say it takes 21 days to make a new habit or break an old habit. Do you believe it?
I was doing a bit of research and science says, it can actually take up to 250 days .
Most people start to see a result sooner however the timing can be longer than 21 days.

As life changed for me in November I found myself struggling a bit and wondering if I was ever going
to feel like I had a routine again. I was so used to some old habits.

As each day passed I became more aware that I was having challenges accepting
my new surrounding, processes, and routines/habits.

It was after 3 weeks that suddenly I felt a heaviness lift me, and my habits and surroundings started
to feel like home again. I didn't even remember the 21 day rule and it automatically came to mind after
21 days. Amazing how that works.

I started to create different habits, different processes, and made some changes that first of all in my brain
were not acceptable to myself, however after 21 days they became like routine.
With routine came peace of mind and a renewed confidence.

So I thought I would remind you of the 21 day rule. Whether you believe it or not I think there is some
truth to it.

Remember not to be so hard on yourself when you start something new. Whether it's a new job, new home,
weight lose program,or whatever it may be it takes time to adapt.
If you start and stop, start and stop, and think it will never become a habit, try and
remember the 21 day rule. Start there and chart your success.

I realize some of us are creatures of habit and we do not like change so much. I have always been
a person who could adapt well to change, new surroundings, new jobs, new processes.
Maybe it has to do with age that this time it was harder for me.

Either way, after 21 days I came to my "ah ha" moment, and stepped back into my greatness.
I am firm believer that everything happens for a reason and a lesson so this too brought
new perspective to me.

Hoping that someone else can relate to this.

Remember to always Be Fabulous!

Luv Wendy
